Recent project -  New book of Professor Irakli Kovzanadze was issued

     Transition countries now comprise one of the most dynamically developing segments of the world economy and are a strong and vital element of global stability. In his book Professor I.K. Kovzanadze, Doctor of the Economic Sciences, analyzes the stages, legalities and particularities of economic and banking system development in transition countries and considers the impact of financial globalization on these countries during transition to market economy, as well as the progress and problems towards integration of Central and Eastern European countries into the EU.

     Separate chapters of this study are dedicated to analyzing the trends and prospects of economic and banking system development in Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltic region and post-Soviet Union countries with particular emphasis on the tendencies underlying economic and banking system development in Georgia.

     This study by Professor I.K. Kovzanadze should be construed as a comprehensive analysis of socio-economic factors of development of transition countries with due regard to historic and geopolitical aspects. The research is largely based on statistical data.

     The book should be of interest to a wide range of readers including specialists working in the fields of macroeconomics, geopolitics, and banking.

     Professor Irakli Kovzanadze has written more than 50 scientific works in mathematics and economics, including four books:

  1. "Some aspects of dimension theory of mesocompact spaces" (1990, in Russian);

  2. "Problems of Functioning of Georgian Commercial Banks on the current stage" (2001, in Georgian, summary in English and Russian;

  3. "Systemic banking crises in the conditions of financial globalization" (2003, in Russian, summary in English);

  4. "Economic and banking system development trends and prospects for countries in tranzition" (2005, in Russian, summary in English).

     The author presented reports on mentioned subjects at:

  2. Autumn school "Aplication of Topology in algebra and differencial geometry" (Tartu, Estonia, 1988);

  5. World Bank Risk Management Workshop for Regulators: Assessing, Managing and Supervising Financial Risk (Washington DC, USA, 2003).

     The author has long experience of working in the banking system. At this time he also works as a professor of Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

     At present Mr. Kovzanadze is a head of the financial-budgetary committee at parliament.
